After a close win last week, we made the relatively short trip to Devizes for our latest fixture. Richard was first up against Simon Hawkins who started off very quickly and whose superb backhand drop shot and powerful forehand drives meant Richard struggled for much of the match, but he kept digging in and eventually found his accuracy and with greater fitness managed to come back from the brink to win 3-2.
Tom played Simon Oliphant who is a very experienced and tidy player. The momentun in this match went back and forth with Simon taking a 2-1 lead before Tom's speed around court and variety or shots eventually gave him the match 3-2.
Both Paul and Paul Fenning had similar styles with lots of hard straight hard hitting and great court coverage. This meant an entertaining game to watch and though was close throughut, Paul just had the edge to win 3-1.
Mark then took on Peter Hatch who had a great start winning the first game convincingly with his low hard hitting. After that though Mark started to retrieve really well and his consistency proved too much, winning the match 3-1.
Finally Jerry played Trevor Edwards and though Jerry used all of his guile with drops and boasts aplenty, Trevor was too consistent and managed to win in straight games.
