Following a cancellation earlier in the season, our final match against Wessex 2 was a double header i.e. double the usual points at stake.
Martin opened procedings against Dave Merchant. The first game was very close with Martin being tested by Dave's tricky shots but he came through in the end. After that Martin lifted his game and won the second and third games comfortably for a great 3-0 win.
Richard was next up against Neil Marshman, a very experienced player. Although Neil played some great shots throughout and managed to win the third game, Richard was too steady and won the match 3-1.
Paul then played JP Cordeiro, a very skilful player with a great record this season. The first two games were very close, each player winning one, but then Paul's speed and consistency proved too much, winning the next two games fairly comfortably for a 3-1 win.
So with the match already in the bag, Tom went on court against Gareth Hopes. Tom started really well but then briefly lapsed allowing Gareth to win the opening game. After that though Tom played brilliantly, showing tremendous speed around the court and a sublime touch on his drop shots, giving him a 3-1 win.
Finally Mark played Josh Watkins, a really talented player. Mark started superbly, frustrating Josh with his excellent retrieving and consistency, to win the first game. After that however, Josh lifted his game and, although it was very close thoughout, with Mark playing excellently, he managed to win the match 3-1.
So a great 4-1 win in our last match of the season meaning we won well over 50% of our matches.
