Trowbridge are County Champions

Having won the first half of the season and come second in the second half to Wessex 2, our first team played Wessex 2 on 23rd May at Marlborough Squash Club to see who would be crowned 2025/6 County Champions. Trowbridge last won that title in 2010 so tensions were high on the night........

First up on court was Robbie Collier vs Max Green at number 2, both players are ranked similarly but Robbie had a storming start to win the first two games before Max rallied to win the third. However Robbie found his groove again winning the match 3-1 and first points to Trowbridge.

Next up was Elliott Clifford vs Ben Taylor at number 5. This was a real battle from start to finish with both players giving everything and the match going back and fourth before Ben won a mammoth 5th game to win the match 3-2 and levelling the points.

Next up at number 4 was Joe Kenrick vs John Watkins. Again this match went the full distance with Joe twice coming back from behind to eventually win 3-2 with a really gutsy performance giving Trowbridge a 2-1 advantage.

The number 3s were on next with Mark McGuiness vs James Davies. Mark was in total control of the match from start to finish playing some awesome squash and hitting winners at will from all over the court. He won 3-0 in double quick time giving Trowbridge an unassailable 3-1 lead.

Last up at number 1 was Tom Scott Cowell vs Calli Smith. Calli is one of the strongest players in the county and won his match 0-3.

However this was academic as Trowbridge won 3-2 and therefore are crowned Wiltshire County Champions 2025/6.
