With our usual second and third strings both injured, it was always going to be an uphill battle away against a strong Marlborough team.
First up was Andy against Clive Morgan and his usual lobs and drops didn't suit the hot courts, eventually losing 0-3 to the very experienced Clive.
Jerry also played a very experience player in Mark Skull. The first two games both went to tie breaks with honours shared but then the quality of Mark's shots started to pay off and although Jerry tried to vary his shots, he didn't quite have enough on the evening finally losing 1-3.
Richard played the up and coming Henry Lloyd-Baker and after a slow start, he started to find his length along with some accurate drop shots and aggresive drives to win 3-1.
Paul who is gradually getting back to his best after a long injury break then played Julian Beckett. Julian played fabulous accurate squash with great variety and disguise and, although Paul played his heart out, was just too good winning in straight sets.
Finally Mark played Ed Hopkins, who has relatively recently moved to the area. Although Mark played with his usual consistency and with great retrievals, Ed was just too fast around the court and the consistency of his shots were too much for Mark who lost in straight games.
So as expected, a tough evening with Trowbridge eventually losing 4-1.
Mark McGuiness lost 0-3 versus Ed Hopkins
Paul Ruddick lost 0-3 versus Julian Beckett
Richard Edwards won 3-1 versus Henry Lloyd-Baker
Jerry Francis lost 1-3 versus Mark Skull
Andy Neave lost 0-3 versus Clive Morgan
