The British National Championships culminated in a fantastic display of top quality squash yesterday in Manchester. The men's draw was between the #1 and #2 seeded players Nick Matthew and James Willstrop. In a tense and very competitive (but not always good natured) match the long-time rivals tested one another's stamina, ultimately Nick winning through 3-1. This was Nick's record breaking 10th time of winning the event and was his final appearance at the Nationals, he announced his retirement from competition last year.
The ladies trophy was won by Tesni Evans, a first for her and for Wales. Tesni vanquished experienced players Laura Massaro and Alison Waters in the semi-final and final, both 3-0.
