Club nights - Mondays and Fridays - 1745 to 2000hrs. Play is goverened by two rules - (1) play in order of arrival irrespective of standard (2) change over after 3 games or 20 minutes have elapsed, next two players go on. FROM 1/9/2016 CLUB NIGHTS WILL TRIAL SCORING TO 25 I.E. AMERICAN SCORING IN ORDER TO SPEED UP THE TIME PLAYERS MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT THEIR TURN TO PLAY/WAIT ON THE VIEWING BALCONY.
The Club Night system has been tried and tested since Trowbridge Squash Club was established in 1971, and as there are no social amenities i.e. bar etc., it has always been ideal/only method for new members to meet the established members, and to enable beginners etc to gain experience from playing more experienced club/team players. It also gives the experienced players the chance to put something back into the sport they enjoy so much. It also allows the club members who do not play team squash the chance to play more experienced members/team players. These members have always been very beneficial to the continued existance/well being of Trowbridge Squash Club, hence Club Nights perform a very important role in the continued life of the club.
To the uninitiated DOUBLES can seem a very confusing and at times dangerous part of SQUASH. Not so - when played on a SAFETY FIRST basis, doubles can be an extremely rewarding and energetic game. Trowbridge Squash Club has a very long tradition of members playing doubles. Currently two groups of members operate within the club - Tuesday from 2000-2130hrs and Saturday 1630-1800hrs. It should be noted that the members who enjoy these sessions, are more than happy to include members who wish to get involved and enjoy the glorious confusion, participating in doubles can create!!
Trowbridge Squash Club normally runs handicap and closed competitions throughout the season but subject to availability of club members/players to organise the events and level of interest, this also requires the cooperation of TSC management who we look to in order to allow our sport to develop & flourish in an encouraging environment. Tournaments can not be held if court maintenance is not at the proper standard required for squash competitions set by ESR on a national level for Health & Safety reasons.
Subject to WSRA County developments, we hope to be able to establish internal leagues in the very near future, & it is expected to be able to operate IL’s via an online system.
